A Hendersonville woman was arrested Tuesday, February 13 on two charges of illegally distributing weight loss drugs.

Sandra D. Jackson, also known as Sandra Jackson Iveson, age 47, of Cedarwood Drive, was working at Optimal Wellness and Weight Loss Center at 919 West Main Street at the time of the alleged crime.

“Investigator (Larry) Burke made contact with the defendant inside the clinic; at which time she began the office visit for weight loss,” Investigator Lisa Byington, with the 18th Judicial Drug Task Force, wrote in an affidavit filed in Sumner County General Sessions Court.

Burke was using a fictitious name and recorded the conversation, according to the affidavit.

“Your defendant dispensed to Investigator Burke 60 tablets of phentermine that she instructed him to take one tablet at breakfast and then one tablet at lunch,” Byington wrote in the affidavit. “Each tablet was 37.5 mg of phentermine (a schedule IV controlled substance.”

“Investigator Burke asked if he could give his 'wife some of his pills because she, too, was trying to lose weight,” that affidavit continues. “Your defendant  told Investigator Burke to give his 'wife' ten (10) pills to see how well she does with them.”

“Your defendant told Investigator Burke that she was giving him double pills but that she would only charge him $40.00,” the affidavit reads. “Your defendant even commented that it might be a good Valentine's Day present. At no time did the defendant inquire about the 'wife's' medical history before instructing Investigator Burke to divert his phentermine.”

Later in the visit, Jackson allegedly left the room and came back with a medication bottle and gave it to Burke.

“Your defendant told Investigator Burke there was a two-month supply of pills inside the bottle and for him to try one pill in the morning and then do ½ one at lunch so that it would give him fifteen (15) extra pills to give to his wife,” the affidavit reads.

“Investigator Burke paid $40.00 in prerecorded U.S. Currency for the office visit. Your defendant did not arrange for a follow-up visit; however, she did instruct Investigator Burke to come back when he had 3 or 4 pills left.”
Byington later secured evidence in the case.

“(I) observed the dosage directions on the bottle to be different than the one that your defendant originally instructed Investigator Burke to take during the exam,” she wrote in the affidavit.

Byington wrote in the affidavit that Jackson both authorized and dispensed “a schedule IV controlled substance in a purpose and manner outside of her “professional or occupational licensure or registration.”

Jackson has been released from the Sumner County Jail on $10,000 bond.
She is scheduled to appear in Sumner County General Sessions Court on March 7, 2012.
The weight loss clinic, meanwhile, has been shut down by law enforcement authorities.
