Dr. Del Phillips, Sumner County Director of Schools, is pleased to announce the naming of two new principals for Station Camp Elementary and George Whitten Elementary. Adam Cripps has been named the principal of Station Camp Elementary School and Rhonda Roach

has been named the principal of George Whitten Elementary.

Cripps is replacing Dr. Linda Cash, who has accepted a position with Union University as the head of the Masters Program on its Hendersonville Campus. Cripps has served as the principal of George Whitten since 2006.

“Whitten Elementary has helped me develop a strong sense of togetherness combined with a focused work-ethic that must be a part of providing the best for our children,” Cripps said. “I have enjoyed my time at Whitten and will be forever thankful to the support of the Whitten teachers, parents, students and broader community.”

Cripps said he was excited and energized at the opportunity to lead Station Camp Elementary.

“Station Camp Elementary has become a model school under the leadership of Dr. Cash. It is my

honor and privilege to serve the Station Camp community to provide our students with the tools and vision to achieve their dreams and life aspirations. I appreciate the confidence and trust that Dr. Phillips has in me and will work diligently to develop that same confidence and trust within all stakeholders of the Station Camp community.”

Roach has served as an assistant principal at Benny Bills Elementary for the past three years. She previously served as a 5th grade teacher at Benny Bills Elementary. She also has served as a teacher at Rucker Stewart Middle School and Union Elementary.

A lifelong Sumner County resident, Roach said she was thrilled at the opportunity to lead a

school with such a strong staff and a strong sense of community. “It is an honor to be named principal at George Whitten Elementary. My goal is to continue the existing excellence with teachers, staff, students, parents and neighborhood groups collaborating, equipping our students to excel in the world,” Roach said.
