Hoback announces re-election bid
Thursday, September 6, 2012

jim hobackwebI’m Jim Hoback and I’m running for re-election as Ward 6 alderman.  My wife Janice and I have lived at 123 Wessington Place for 15 years. We have been married for 38 years and have three children and seven grandchildren. I’m a retired master electrician. It has been my honor and privilege to have served my Ward 6 neighbors, as Alderman, for the last four years. It is my intention to run on my record.

I have been accessible to everyone to listen to their concerns while working to find solutions to problems in our ward. With your help, we have been able to see a sidewalk built on Grapevine Road and paving done on Savely, Forrest Retreat, Oak Leaf Court, Brookside, and Wayne Court. After the 2010 flood, my attention became focused on our drainage problems. Working with several key aldermen and with the support of many Ward 6 citizens, we have been successful in adding a $1.2 million bond issue to this year’s budget to begin fixing the City’s drainage, lighting, and paving issues. While I’m proud of the big things we’ve accomplished, most of my satisfaction comes from meeting individuals or small groups and helping them with problems that effect smaller areas.

Even with all we’ve accomplished, we still have work to do. Just getting the $1.2 million included in the budget is only half the battle. Since this money is not enough to fix all of the infrastructure needs, we now need to determine which projects will be funded. With your help, I will continue to fight for projects in Ward 6. In addition, I have supported and will continue to support the re-alignment of the intersection of Old Shackle Island Road and Walton Ferry Road with Main Street and the widening of New Shackle Road from Isis Drive to the By-pass.

I would be honored to have your vote in the November election. If you vote for me, you know what you’ll be getting. I’ll only be making one promise. I promise to continue doing the things I’ve done for the last four years, remain accessible to everyone and continue to fight on your behalf to solve problems that affect you, Ward 6 and this city.
