Alice T. Chandler age 93, of Gallatin, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 29 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Chaplain Aaron Terlecki officiating. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park with family serving as pallbearers. Visitation is today, Wednesday, December 28 from 2-8 p.m. and Thursday, December 29 from noon until time of service. Mrs. Chandler was born August 25, 1918 in Clay County, daughter of the late Fred and Nancy Smith Reecer. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Mont Chandler; sons, Novel Ray Chandler and Louis Chandler; daughter, Barbara Brooks; brothers, Paul Reecer, Avery T. Reecer, Novel Reecer, William Reecer, Carl Reecer and Donald Reecer; sisters, Donia Kendell, Roxie Collins, Lucy Kendell, Dovie Lackey and Mamie Reecer and two grandchildren. She is survived by sons, Norman Chandler (Irma) of Gallatin, Cordell Chandler of Portland, Montie Chandler of Hartsville, Fred Chandler (Ann) of Goodlettsville; daughters, Nancy Brooks (Leroy) of Bethpage, Jeanette McNabb and Faye Glasgow (Doyle) of Gallatin; sister, Beulah Neatherton of Old Hickory; sisters-in-law, Beulah Reecer of Moss and Joyce Reecer of Gallatin; brother-in-law, George Kendell of Indiana, 31 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Homer Carter, Jr. age 80, of Gallatin, formerly of Westmoreland, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Brenda Sanders McNeil; son, Stephen Andrew McNeil, both of Portland; father, Robert “Bobby” McNeil, of Gallatin; brother, Mike McNeil of Waverly, sister, Sherri McNeil of White House; aunts and uncles and several nieces and nephews. Mr. McNeil was a graduate of UT Martin and was a member of ATO fraternity. He worked for University of Tennessee as an extension agent for 30 years. Thomas (Tom) Franklin Stratton age 60, of Gallatin, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011. Funeral service for Thomas (Tom) Franklin Stratton was Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 1 p.m. from Woodard Funeral Home. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Tom Stratton was retired from Volunteer State College and farming. He was a member of the United Methodist Church where he was a local license minister. He attended college at UT Martin, Tenn. Tech, Kentucky and Duke. He also attended Emory in Atlanta, Ga. He was a member for more than 22yrs. of Band Boosters at Beech and Station Camp High Schools and played Santa for many years for under privileged children. He was also the nephew of Ed Stratton the famous voice of Emma's Florist. Mr. Stratton was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W Stratton and Willie Margarett Stratton. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Stratton, of Gallatin, sons, Tom Stratton, of Cookeville and Sam Willeford, of Gallatin; daughter, Jodi Wright, of Marietta, GA; daughter-in-law, Erin Stratton; son-in-law, Darryl Wright; uncle, Ed Stratton, of Brentwood; mother-in-law, LaVeta Speck, Gallatin and four grandchildren. |
