Mildred A. “Millie” Wood

age 76, of Hendersonville, passed away on February 11, 2012. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Charles “Chuck” Wood. Mrs. Wood is survived by three children, Becky McWhorter (Frank), Mark Wood and Susan Smart (Robert). The special Joy of her life was loving and enriching the lives of her nine grandchildren, Ashley (Matt), Brent, Rachel, Logan, Grant, Reagan, Allison, Tess and Eli. She was a faithful member of Hendersonville Church of Christ. She also derived much joy in her role as a substitute teacher at Gene Brown Elementary. The family would like to give a special thanks to all of their friends for their love, encouragement, visits and prayers. A Life Celebration was held Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Hendersonville Church of Christ with burial following at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Mary Ellen Parker

age 78, of Madison, passed away on February 15, 2012.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lena Rollins.  She is survived by her daughter, Denise Kelley; grandson, Brad (Shannon) Kelley; great-granddaughter, Lena Kelley; brothers, Bill (Stephanie) Rollins, and Dr. James (Laetitia) Rollins, and many loving nieces and nephews.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she is an alumna of the Isaac Litton class of 1951. A Life Celebration service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 in the Chapel with Dr. Leonard Markham officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hendersonville Memory Gardens where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  Visitation is today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 10 a.m. until service hour at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 Johnny Cash Pkwy., Hendersonville, TN (615) 824-3855 www.hendersonvillefh.com

Mary Reece Alexander

age 87, of Bethpage, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012. Funeral service was Saturday, February 11 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Wert Campbell officiating. Interment followed in Crestview Memorial Park with Charlie Alexander, Jeff Cooper, Matt Cooper, Josh Estes, Steve Hollins and Steve Graves serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Alexander was born November 16, 1924 in Sumner County, daughter of the late Erskin and Ethel Cates Holmes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Alexander. She is survived by her sons, Charles Reed Alexander and Phillip “Dickie” Alexander; daughters, Mary Ann Watson (Paul) and Jane Alexander; grandchildren, Charlie Alexander (January), Jeff Cooper, Margaret Cooper Estes (Josh) and Matt Cooper and great grandchild, Kipp Alexander all of Bethpage. Lorene Bursby

age 94, of Gallatin passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Funeral service was Saturday, February 4 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Charles Pitt officiating. Interment followed in Bethlehem Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Bursby was born August 25, 1917 in Robertson County, daughter of the late Albert and Lela Elmore Pitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Bursby and brother, Joe Pitt.  She is survived by her son, Jerry Bursby (Shelby) and grandchildren, Will Bursby and Tracy Bursby McDowd (Josh) all of Gallatin.
