To the Editor:

I am writing in regard to the possible replacement of Darlean McDougal as the Administrator of Elections for Sumner County. Darlean started to work for the election office when she graduated from high school as a deputy clerk. When she first started to work this was just a job in which she probably never dreamed she would still be
working.

Well, this job has turned into a career for her and she is a very capable person for this position. I have worked for the past 20 years in the office beside her and know her very well. She knows all the state election laws. She treats all candidates and every voter with respect and dignity. She is non-partisan and works to see that all elections are carried out fairly.

In the next few months redistricting will start for Sumner County. This comes about every 10 years. This will affect voting precincts, commission districts, as well as school districts and city wards. Also, presidential primaries, county and city elections, and the presidential election in November will be held. This takes a lot of knowledge and I know Darlean can do the job well. I hope that the Election Commission will decide to retain her for the position.

Thank you for letting me express my thoughts in this matter.
