The doors of Hendersonville's newest business - Bloom Designer Finds - officially opened Tuesday.
The business offers upscale "pre-loved" designer women's fashion at a fraction of the cost found at full retail price; many from top fashion cities like Chicago and Atlanta.
"This is going to be a different kind of experience for shoppers," co-owner Natalie Brown Dohanos, said. "A lot of people drive to Green Hills to find designer consignment names like J. Crew, Tory Burch and Anthropologie. We have a lot of brands you can't find in this area."
Although today is the first day open to the public, the consignment shop already has over 2,000 followers on Facebook.
"The response has been crazy - way more than we ever expected," co-owner Ashley Franklin Steenhoven, said. "We have 85 consigners we are already working with both locally and in Chicago."
Steenhoven said the average retail cost for many of the items at Bloom would normally be around $200; with the consignment costs of those same items at the new Hendersonville location being an average of $28 to $40.
"We are selling items at about an eighth of the full price even though they are pre-owned, they are very well made, tailored and in good shape," Steenhoven said. "Not only are they fashionable, but one of the biggest benefits is that every item is one-of-a-kind and no one else in this area will have that piece."
Bloom carries a variety of pre-worn clothing from pants, dresses, skirts, shorts and a big inventory of designer jeans.
"We carry jeans that would normally sell for $225 including True Religion, 7 For All Mankind and Miss Me and they sell for $35 to $50," Steenhoven said.
Accessories at the shop include shoes, scarves, jewelry and purses. So far, the shop has tons of purses, including 75 different Coach bags, she said.
Local shoppers may recognize the business duo. Steenhoven formerly owned 'On a Whim' - a furniture painting business and Dohanos hosts the semi-annual 'Hooked on Consignment' kid's sales. They found the perfect spot for their new business on Stadium Drive and the location also holds sentimental value.
A resident of Hendersonville for 38 years, Dohanos remembers shopping as a child with her mother at the popular Teresa's fashions in the 1980's, which was also on Stadium Drive.
"I am so excited about this location and I hope it brings some life back to this area of town along Main Street," she said.
Steenhoven moved to Hendersonville from Chicago two years ago and brings a decade of high-fashion experience to the area.
Although Bloom targets women ages 25 to 40, the store carries clothing and accessories for all age groups; even younger girls.
"Anyone can come in and find something they like," Steenhoven said.
One of the services Bloom is offering is a private shopping consultation with professional stylists. The service is free and offered on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
"We want people to be excited that they are getting a deal and we want them to feel good when they leave," Dohanos said.
Another service offered is Concierge Consignment.
"It's a free service - we will come into your house and go through your closet and you can show us what you don't want," Steenhoven said. "We can tell you what to keep, what to sell and what to donate."
Bloom Designer Finds' Grand Opening is today, January 28th, and located at 117B Stadium Drive, Hendersonville, TN.
You can find them on Facebook at Bloom Designer Finds.
