The Lady Bison raced to an early 11-0 lead and never looked back as they knocked off the Lady Wave 72-29 in a late season District 9-AAA contest. With the win, Station Camp improved to 11-9 overall, and 6-4 in district play. Gallatin fell to 1-21 overall and 0-10 within the district. “I was really pleased with the way they girls came out,” said Lady Bison head coach Kendra Jackson. “We played with a lot of intensity and that is something that we will need to continue to do, especially in the postseason.” The Lady Bison enjoyed a very balanced attack offensively, as four players scored in double figures, led by senior Chelsea Davis, who finished with 18 points. Junior Janasia Williams also had a nice night on the offensive end, chipping in 15 points.
“With Cheyenne not playing in the first half, I think that forced some of the other girls to be assertive and take good shots and I think they did that,” said Jackson. “We want to force the defense to not focus just on stopping one player and we try to be well balanced offensively.” After falling behind 11-0 in the early going, senior Becca Anderson got the Lady Wave on the board, with a layup midway through the quarter. The only other basket in the opening quarter for Gallatin came from freshman Aleria Duncan. Duncan led the Lady Wave in scoring, finishing the game in double figures with 12 points. At the end of the first quarter, the advantage was well in favor of the home team, as the Lady Bison led by 20 points at 24-4. The Lady Bison kept their foot on the pedal offensively in the second quarter outscoring the Lady Wave 21-8, to lead 45-12 headed into the locker room at the halfway point. Gallatin had its best quarter of the night offensively in the third, scoring 10 points. The Lady Wave defense also stepped up its play coming out of the break, holding the Station Camp Lady Bison to just 14 points, but still trailed 59-22 headed into the final quarter of play. Station Camp was able to play a good many of their reserves in the fourth quarter, outscoring Gallatin 13-7 to close out the game and complete the victory.
