The Bison, which had lost three 9-AAA game in a row entering Friday night’s game at Hendersonville, scored a 57-46 victory and with it came the No. 4 seed, a home game and a rematch against the Commandos to kick off their postseason 7 p.m. Friday night. “We go through lulls in the season and we had been in a down point,” said Station Camp coach Seth Massey, whose team had lost to Lebanon, Wilson Central and Beech by an average of 21.6 points in the three games leading up to the Hendersonville game. “You want to get one of those home games and we knew it was attainable; getting that four-five game vs. the three-six game — it beats the alternative.”
Hendersonville, which was swept by Station Camp this season — also falling 63-52 on Jan. 17 — fell to the No. 5 seed after having climbed back up with four straight wins entering Friday night’s game. The Commandos had won the four by an average of 13 points. The closed out their regular season with a 65-52 loss at Antioch. The Bison built on a 29-26 halftime lead by outscoring the Commandos 28-20 in the final two quarters. Ryan Hardin led Station Camp with 14 points, including three 3-pointer, while Easton Cline scored 10 points with two 3-pointers and Travis Bush had 13 points. Hendersonville was paced by Jeff Long’s 14 points and two 3-pointers. Massey said it’s a great advantage heading into the postseason, having won the two games against the Commandos. “We have the confidence that we know we can beat them,” he said. “I think that’s better than playing someone you lost to twice; it’s a team you know you had success against.” From Staff Reports |
