NASHVILLE — Pope John Paul II grabbed five top-10 finishes in the finals of the 2012 Tennessee Swimming and Diving Championships at Centennial Sportsplex over the weekend. Paige Scheriger had the top finish amongst Sumner County swimmers. The sophomore finished third in the “A” final of the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.6), besting her sixth-place seed time of 1:06.56. Scheriger also finished seventh in the “A” final of the 200-yard IM (2:08.81), besting her 12th-place seed time of 2:11.86. Scheriger joined Brittany Zobl, Courtney Baldridge and Maddie Kolbe to finish fifth in the “B” final of the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:43.91). Kolbe, a sophomore, finished fifth in the “A” final of the 100 breaststroke (1:07.17) to give JPII two top-10 finishers. Zobl, a senior, finished fifth in the “B” Final of the 50-yard freestyle (24.94 seconds). The girls’ team finished 13th with 54 points. Baylor won the meet with 373 points. Merrol Hyde Magnet senior Bryce Anderson finished third in the “B” final of the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.70) and narrowly missed competing in the finals of the 500-yard freestyle.
