JPII OFFERING SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMP
Pope John Paul II High School will be offering its annual basketball camp June 3-7 in the school gymnasiums. The camp will run from 12:30-3:30 p.m. The cost is $140 for the entire week. Led by JPII coach Kip Brown and assistants Charles Wade and Robert Sorenson, the camp will be available to boys, ages 6-14. Each day will consist of ball handling, passing and shooting drills and campers will be divided up into groups based on grade, age and ability level. Games will be played each day, utilizing both gyms and goals will be lowered to nine feet for ages 10 and under. Team play will be strongly encouraged. There will also be an emphasis on rebounding, defense, hustle and intensity throughout the week.  JPII assistant coaches, as well as current and former players will be on hand. This will allow for a low instructor-student ratio. It is encouraged to register for both the baseball camp (9 a.m.-noon) and the basketball camp (12:30-3:30 p.m.) the week of June 3-7.  Campers who attend both camps will be able to use the basketball locker rooms to change and to store bags.  The school cafeteria will be open for lunch, or kids may bring a sack lunch. Coach Kip Brown will be working both of these camps and will ensure your child and his belongings are safe and secured. For more information, log on to jp2hs.org.
