| Spring Fling update: Beech doubles advance to semifinals |

MURFEESBORO – The Beech doubles team of Joseph Daniels and Seth Carelli are on to the TSSAA Class AAA semifinals. The duo advanced to Thursday’s 2 p.m. semifinals after their quarterfinal win this morning at Old Fort Park. The juniors were 6-1, 6-3 winners over Houston’s duo of Billy Fickle and Michael Hoff.
Hendersonville’s Matthew Heinrich and Sarah Hall were knocked out of the Class AAA singles tournament in their opening match. Heinrich, a senior and three-time state qualifier, fell to Science Hill senior Michael Chen (6-7 (5), 4-6). Chen, who fell in last year’s finals to Ravenwood’s Sean Karl, will get a rematch in Thursday afternoon’s semifinal round. Karl was a 6-0, 6-1 winner against Cleveland senior Alex Klibisz in Thursday morning’s quarterfinals. Karl defeated Heinrich in the quarterfinals last season. Hall, a freshman, fell to Siegel’s Ashlee Boles (1-6, 0-6) in their Thursday quarterfinals. Boles moves on to play Cumberland County senior Nithya Kanagasegar, a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Munford’s Taylor Patterson. TRACK Hendersonville’s Duncan Bennett (100-meter dash) and Gallatin’s Jason Griffin (300-meter hurdles) will run their preliminary races at 3:40 and 4:25 p.m. today at MTSU. The Station Camp girls’ 3,200-meter relay team will run in its final tonight. The meet begins at 6 p.m. and their event is the fourth one scheduled. They will play Tennessee High’s Matt Henson and Seth Buckmaster in the semifinals. The Bristol duo were 6-0, 6-0 winners over Arlington’s senior team of Austin Talley and Andrew Butler in their quarterfinals matchup Thursday morning.
