Pate carries a 4.0 GPA, according to the team’s Website, and his favorite class is trigonometry. The Commandos’ starting halfback/strong safety has been named Class Favorite his first three years, according to My30 TV’s Website. He was named American Legion Boys State Delegate from HHS in 2012 and went on to be appointed to the Governor’s Cabinet. He is currently the president of the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is a volunteer for Crisis Pregnancy Center as a mentor to middle school students and ais a peer leader for STARS at HHS. Each week, local high school’s athletic directors, teachers, counselors and/or principals will select one high school athlete to be the Scholar Athlete of the Week. The selected student will be recognized on air during halftime of a Thursday Night Lights game broadcast. All Scholar Athletes selected will have a chance of winning a $5,000 scholarship to the college or university he/she plans to attend. Pate would have been recognized on the broadcast of this week’s Hendersonville at Station Camp game, which was scheduled to be broadcast on My30 TV. However, due to the delay in school starting in Sumner County, My30 TV was forced to pull its coverage of the game last week. — From staff reports |

Hendersonville senior running back Andrew Pate was named the Beaman Scholar Athlete of the week.
