Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. - Volunteers may fill a variety of needs, including construction crews, family selections, and site selections, as well as nurturing the new homeowners. - Coordinators of volunteers are also needed. - Other volunteer opportunities include: serve on the board of directors, serve on a committee, public relations, fund-raising, host special events. Ashley’s Place Ashley’s Place, a Sumner Child Advocacy Center designed to deliver comprehensive services to child physical and sexual victims and their families in a child-focused, neutral-based facility. The following needs are immediate: –Assistance with providing basic office supervision from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. (at most) on Tuesday and Wednesday nights during individual child therapy sessions. –Assistance with office coverage on the second Monday of each month for the Non-Offending Parenting support group. Parents often bring children due to lack of child care, and a volunteer is needed to assist in child supervision. Group is from 6-7:30 p.m. once a month. –We are in desperate need of a volunteer who feels they have the ambition and skills to chair a fund raising committee. This volunteer position would be the lead in establishing a funding raising event or events. –The center is currently recruiting board members and would like to talk with anyone who feels that they would be a good fit with the center’s mission in serving child sexual abuse victims.
