*The annual Gallatin Ghost Walk, a family-friendly stroll through the history and mystery of Gallatin and Sumner County, will be held on Friday and Saturday nights beginning the first weekend of October. Ghost Walk intertwines the diverse history of Sumner County with spine-tingling stories of haunts and mysterious happenings. Reservations are required. Call 512-5299 for details. Price is $10 per person, age 6 and under are free.

Oct. 3

*Dining for Dogs – to benefit the Humane Society of Sumner County – 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ruby’s Kitchen, 75 New Shackle Island Road. Food and a chance to win great prizes. All proceeds go to the adoption center.

* Beech Elementary Country Day – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Live and silent auctions include event tickets, toys, sports memorabilia, gift cards, and spa packages. Wristband activities ($12 at the door) include Angry Birds, Lucky Ducks, Corn Hole, Nerf Bird Blaster, Mash Tent, Bounce Houses, and cake walk. Beech PTO Spirit Shop, firetruck rides, and an arts and crafts fair in the gym.

*The Sumner Trails Chapter of Tennessee Trails Association will lead a 4-mile Hidden Hendersonville hike that will encompass lake views, urban landscape and an Arboretum. Meet at the Walton Ferry Boat Ramp in Hendersonville at 9 a.m. For more information contact ellenfuqua@comcast.net

Oct. 4

*Third annual ‘Cancer Sucks Motorcycle Ride and Picnic’ at Rockland Recreation Area, shelter #1. Motorcycles register at 1p.m., the police-escorted ride starts at 2 p.m. and returns at 3 p.m. for a BBQ picnic and live music. A donation of $20 per bike includes the meal. Non-riders can come at 3 p.m. to watch the bikes roll in and listen to the music, a $5 donation for the BBQ meal for non-riders. All proceeds will benefit Gilda’s Club Nashville, a free of charge cancer support community for men, women and children with cancer and their friends and family; gildasclubnashville.org/.

*The Hendersonville Parks Department hosts their annual Preschool Track Meet on at 1:30 p.m. This is for all 3, 4 and 5-year-olds. Age is determined as of Oct. 31, 2015. The cost is $15 and every participant will participate in the 25 yd. dash, tennis ball throw, and hurdles. The mini-mile run is optional. Pre-registration is required and you can register from now until Wednesday, Sept. 23. Register at either the parks office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or online at hendersonvilleparks.org. You must be pre-registered to be guaranteed a shirt.

*The Sumner Trails Chapter of Tennessee Trails Association will hold its monthly chapter meeting at First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville at 6:30 p.m. The program will be presented by Danny Shelton of the Tennessee Ornithological Society who will show his latest film, “A Century of Birds.” Visitors Welcome. *Key to the City ladies are rolling the dice – bunco has returned in full force. The fun begins at 7 p.m. Call Beverly at 264-2900 or Pam at 417-7643 for details. All Sumner County ladies are cordially invited to attend.

*The annual Show Tell & Sell Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UT Extension Office on Hartsville Pike. Lunch will be served starting at 11 a.m. Choices will be soup, chili, barbeque, deserts and drink. Free admission. For information call 615-452-1423.

Oct. 14

*Key to the City “Bookmarks” begins at 10 a.m. at Hendersonville Library. At Bookmarks a variety of books are discussed and shared among members. It is a wonderful way to get perspectives on many diverse subjects and you are able to read an array of books without having to purchase them – just borrow them! Another added benefit – a lot of laughs are also shared. All Sumner County ladies are invited to participate. Call Jeanie at 824-2344.

*Key to the City’s Pinochle/Hand and Foot gals meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come play cards and enjoy a potluck lunch! Lessons provided to those wanting to learn. Playing cards is a great opportunity to spend the morning having fun and learning. Guests are welcome. For more information call Rose G at 264-2029.

*The Sumner Trails Chapter of Tennessee Trails Association will lead a 4-mile hike in Beaman Park in Nashville. Meet at 9 a.m. in the Kroger Glenbrook Shopping Center parking lot for carpooling. For further information contact Judy at 615 264-7062.

*Key to the City Creative Crafters will meet at 10 a.m. This month the ladies will be making a fall/holiday craft. Guests are welcome. Call Pat at 812-6862 for additional information.

*Start your day off right at Key to the City’s Friendship Coffee. Coffee is served at 10 a.m. The Friendship Coffee offers a chance to savor coffee, a wide spectrum of news, and building of friendships. If one person gives another a cup of coffee, it is a sign of friendship. Guests are welcome! For details call Sharron at 672-2643.

*The Sumner Trails Chapter of Tennessee Trails Association will lead a 3-mile hike in Old Fort State Archaeological Park in Manchester, TN. Meet at First Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville at 9 a.m. for carpooling. For further information contact whitton@realtracs.com.

*Key to the City Potluck Supper Club starts at 6 p.m. Enjoy casual dining where you will feel at home, while savoring wonderful home cooked food. Members and guests enjoy not only good food but also fellowship; most of all they get to know each other better over a casual meal. Guests are welcome. Cost: One covered dish

*Trick-or-Treat at City Hall will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. All the little ghosts and goblins up to12-years-old can come have fun trick-or-treating in each department. Each department will have games for the little ghosts and goblins to play and they can win prizes and get candy. Please bring your own bags for your goodies. Come dressed in costumes and enjoy the FUN!!!
