On July 31, representatives from Dollar General and 3M presented Sumner County Schools Director Del Phillips and hundreds of teachers from Sumner County with a check for $50,000 to promote 2019-2020 literacy initiatives in local schools.

Each teacher also left with a back to school kit, which contained almost $100 worth of products from Scotch, Post-It, Scotch-Brite and Lysol, as well as a $10 Dollar General gift card to supplement their classroom supply needs. A total of 1,000 kits will be given out.

Administrators may use the donated funds at their discretion to best advance the district’s literacy efforts by purchasing books, new technology, software solutions and/or other educations supplies or resources.
