A popular Main Street restaurant has closed its doors after 18 years of serving the community.
The Black-eyed Pea closed on Sunday with plans of transitioning to a new concept, according to President Kori Langford.
“This community has meant so much to us over the years. It’s bittersweet,” said Langford. “But we’re excited by the new opportunity.”
Langford said her team will be involved with the new concept that will be announced within the coming days.
She added that she expects the restaurant to be closed at least a month or so during the transition.
“We plan to re-open as quickly as possible,” she added.
The restaurant featuring traditionally Southern fare opened in April of 2001.
Langford’s family also owns Myers’ Front Porch, located on Main Street next to the Black-eyed Pea. That restaurant, offering "fast-casual, healthy" food, opened in December of 2017.
Black-eyed Pea favorites will still be available for catering by calling 615-264-3005.
“This community has been so supportive of us over the years,” Langford added. “And for that we are truly grateful.”
