A Hendersonville woman has been charged with arson for allegedly setting fire to her boyfriend’s Birchwood Drive home five times in April.

Tiffany Hummel, 48, was arrested by Hendersonville police in Smyrna on June 10 following a nearly two-month investigation, according to an HPD news release.

Both HPD and the Hendersonville Fire Department investigated five fires that occurred at a home in the 300 block of North Birchwood Drive on April 16 and 17, according to police. The fifth fire on April 17 destroyed the home.

Police say the investigation revealed that the fires were the result of arson committed by Hummel, whose fiancé was renting the home. Hummel is also charged with stealing from her fiancé before setting the fires.

Hummel has been charged with five counts of arson and one count of theft over $2,500. She is being held in the Sumner County Jail on a $200,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Sumner County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. on July 10.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to call and report that information to the Hendersonville Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 615-264- 5303 or the Hendersonville Crime Stoppers at 615-573-5400.
