Imagine a place where you are free to let go, shake off the stress, have fun tapping into the creative flow of self-expression, and then get to take home the do-it-yourself (DIY) inspired masterpiece that you created with friends, family or all by yourself.
Located at 1050 Glenbrook Way, Suite 500, the Pinterest-inspired Pinspiration Hendersonville offers 3,000 square feet of play space for letting imagination and inspiration take shape in the form of a unique DIY creation. It’s one of 14 studios located throughout the U.S.
Pinspiration is owned by Windi and Whit Klemme, who are originally from Dallas, Texas. The two met at college in Kentucky, and relocated in Tennessee to pursue ministry opportunities after getting married.
“There are 50-plus different projects to choose from and each is marked with level of difficulty and time required,” said Windi Klemme. “You choose your project, and the whole family can sit at one table.”
She added that “Muses” (creative helpers) are on hand to assist with offering inspiration and guidance.
“The price that’s marked for your project includes embellishments and paints,” said Windi. “We have self-guided canvasses, paintings with stencil, carbon paper to trace. There is a step by step sheet that tells you what to paint first, how to mix paint. We’re here to help with technique and colors.”
There is also the VIP party room which can be used for hosting special gatherings such as baby showers or wedding-related showers; business meetings, team building, children’s parties, and ladies nights out, just to name a few.
It’s the perfect place for creative souls of all ages and walks of life to engage the great rewards that come from taking time to relax, be inspired, cut loose and express yourself.
There is also a Jackson Pollack-inspired splatter room, where participants get dressed up with covering and goggles. The room features three canvas sizes with a black light option.
“There are five different children’s parties or you can have a can DIY party if you want,” said Windi.
To further encourage the DIY mindset, there is an artisan coffee option and a make your own smores option available.
She noted that some Pinspiration locations have a wine bar, but Hendersonville does not; adding that BYOB is allowed.
“This is a great opportunity to connect family, and affirm individual uniqueness as you choose what want and how to do it,” Windi said. “We look forward to being active members of the business community, joining the Chamber of Commerce, being active participants in community events and offering support for school fundraising efforts.”
The Klemme’s have been more than pleased by the positive response of those who have stopped by for the fun and fellowship.
Kelly Swan, mother of three, said she had discovered Pinspiration right after having taken Uber to UPS which is located next to the DIY business.
“I saw Pinspiration next door, and the window is so beautiful,” said Swan, adding that it piqued her curiosity; so she had to check it out.
She noted that her visit to Pinspiration was truly a positive, life-affirming experience, with Windi feeling more like family.
“Immediately our spirits were lifted because it’s a beautiful space,” she said. “It’s spacious, happy, and I immediately wanted to know how it worked. I met Windi. It was a couple weeks before our first craft my husband, Chad, re-proposed to me for our 15-year anniversary. He sent our girls, Kathryn, 11, Samantha, 8, and Charlotte, 4, to Pinspiration; and they made a wooden sign that said - Swan Family Est. 2005 – which is the year we got married. Ever since early June or end of May, it’s become a lovely little facet of our lives now.”
Windi said that she and her family have lived in Tennessee for 20 years, having spent nine years in Goodlettsville and 11 years in Hendersonville.
Nine years ago they started their other business called Wipeout Pest Control, which is still thriving.
The couple has five children, Hannah, Kaia, Zachary, Grace, and Judah, ages nine to 17. The kids were homeschooled until getting Pinspiration underway became a point of focus.
