A Hendersonville woman has been charged with theft after police say she stole money from a local boutique she was working at over several months.
Susan Barron, 56, was charged in early October with theft over $1,000, according to a police affidavit filed in Sumner County General Sessions Court. The charge came after the owners of the Trendy Trunk on Indian Lake Boulevard told police that Barron, who was no longer an employee, devised a scheme in which she would log a sale, remove the item from the inventory list, and pocket the cash from the transaction, according to the affidavit.
The owners estimated that Barron stole more than $1,900 from the store between Aug. 6 and 28, and believe the scheme had been going on since May, the affidavit states.
Barron was arrested and released from the Sumner County Jail on a $2,500 bond. She is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Dec. 9 at 9 a.m.
