I’m Russ Edwards, and I am running for Hendersonville City Alderman for Ward 3, the two year unexpired term. I am a native of Hendersonville. I have been a business owner and private attorney practicing with my father, Mike Edwards, in Hendersonville since 2003.

My wife and I have been married for more than 18 years, and we have two wonderful children, ages eight and 11. My family keeps me busy, but I also enjoy boating, running, and volunteering for worthy causes.

I am on the board of directors for Arc of Cumberland Valley, which supports children and young adults with special needs. I coach Gallatin Senior High School’s mock trial team and am an active member of the Sumner County Bar Association and the Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce. My family and I attend and support Long Hollow Baptist Church.

As a supporter of our police department, I am a member of the Police Benevolent Association, through which I defend officers throughout middle Tennessee who are sued for performing their duties. The safety of our citizens is of utmost importance, and we must ensure our fire and police departments have adequate resources to cover Hendersonville’s expanding needs.

I recall when Hendersonville was a small town with little more than Twitty City, Shoney’s, McDonald’s, and a few churches. Our town has grown tremendously throughout the years, and while growth is a good thing, it has caused traffic congestion and minimized the allure of our quiet City by the Lake. If elected, I would scrutinize any further development and prioritize traffic and road maintenance.

If elected as alderman, I pledge to keep citizens informed of what is transpiring in their government. Transparency in government is vital to provide citizens with confidence in those who govern. I will also be responsive and open to citizens who want to communicate with me.

I hope to offer my conservative values and common sense to our city’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen. I will be a strong, stable, trustworthy, and dependable leader that will protect and serve the interests of Ward 3 with excellence and a servant’s heart. Together we can ensure that Hendersonville is a safe, wonderful place to live.
