A Hendersonville man is charged with statutory rape by an authority figure following a six-count indictment filed Oct. 8 in Sumner County Criminal Court.
Robert W. Pitt II, 39, has been charged by a Sumner County grand jury for incidents that occurred in December 2011, January and February of 2012, and April of 2014, according to the indictments.
Statutory rape by an authority figure is the unlawful sexual penetration of a victim who is between 13 and 18 years of age; the defendant is at least four years older than the victim; and the defendant used a position of trust or power against the victim. The crime is a Class C felony.
Pitt was arrested and booked into the Sumner County Jail on Oct. 14. He remains in jail on a $50,000 bond. His arraignment in criminal court is scheduled for Nov. 6.
