The Hendersonville Police Department (HPD), with the assistance of other local agencies will be conducting a roadside sobriety checkpoint during the weekend of July 4, on Indian Lake Boulevard within the city limits.
Impaired driving is a serious crime that kills more than 16,000 people and injures 305,000 others every year in the United States. In a partnership with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, officers of the HPD and other local agencies will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
The officers will seek those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for other violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists. Additionally, officers will be enforcing other traffic violations to include speeding and seatbelt violations.
HPD recognizes that roadside sobriety checkpoints are highly visible and effective tools in the battle against impaired driving, and ask that everyone drive safely during the Independence Day Weekend.
