A Hendersonville family has been displaced by a fire caused earlier today when lightning struck their home on Stillwater Trail off of Cumberland Hills Drive.

A woman who was home at the time was able to escape, according to Deputy Fire Chief Mike Holt. No injuries were reported.

The dramatic moment lightning struck the home at around 11:30 a.m. was captured by a neighbor’s security camera.

Engine Companies 3, 4, 5, and 6 and Ladder trucks 3 and 5 responded to the blaze.

“There was a lot of fire in there,” Holt said. “Half of the house is totally damaged.”

The home has been condemned by the city’s codes department, and electricity has been cut off to the residence, according to Holt.
