Mayor cautious despite record sales tax revenue and reserves

While the city is prospering economically, it needs to prepare for leaner times, Mayor Jamie Clary told members of the Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce in his sixth State of the City address last week.

Even though the city of Hendersonville continues to collect an unprecedented amount of sales tax revenue and has a record $11 million in reserves, it needs to prepare for leaner times, Mayor Jamie Clary told those who attended the State of the City address on May 3.

The city’s mayor traditionally gives an annual address each May at the monthly Hendersonville Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon, highlighting the city’s successes and challenges over the past year and often updating residents on upcoming projects.
