No injuries in abandoned house fire

Officials are investigating the cause of a fire at an abandoned home off of New Shackle Island Road on Monday.

No injuries were reported in an intense blaze that could be seen for miles Monday night near an industrial park off of New Shackle Island Road.

Fire crews were dispatched to an abandoned home at 100 Innovation Way at around 7:30 p.m., according to Hendersonville Fire Chief Scotty Bush. The home was fully engulfed by the time fire personnel arrived.

Bush said the home, located on the grounds of a former equestrian facility, was at least 1,000 feet off the road and that fire fighters had to extend water hoses by a couple hundred feet to reach it.

Four engine companies and two ladder trucks responded to the blaze that was extinguished in less than three hours.

Reports on social media that homeless people were living in the home haven’t been confirmed, according to Bush.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by both the fire and police departments, said Bush, adding more information would be available once the investigation is complete.
