The Stampede Stop Shop is a student operated, in-school store where the Station Camp
High School DECA chapter sells merchandise and spirit items to students.
The shop was established in 2003 by the Station Camp High School DECA Chapter and has since offered a wide variety of apparel and accessories. The selections include long sleeve
T-shirts, short sleeve T-shirts, sweatshirts, jerseys, hats, and car stickers.
Apparel prices on average, range from $10 to $30. It also sells fresh coffee, hot chocolate and cold water bottles for just $1. All merchandise sold is designed and created entirely by Station Camp students in the marketing classes.
Thanks to the Stampede Stop Shop, Station Camp’s marketing program is able to provide students with hands-on marketing and retail experience. In one class, students are required to design a new product and then follow it through every step of the marketing process.
They must predict demand, order the product, market it to students and analyze how the product sells and what they can improve upon with their process. This type of experience prepares students for marketing in the real world more than any class ever could.
All profit made from the Stop Shop is put towards travel and lodging expenses for the school’s DECA students competing at nationals. Since the cost of traveling to each new location can be very costly for individual competitors, the profits are incredibly beneficial to the DECA chapter.
The funds allow many students the chance to experience a fun and educational trip that they might never have gone on without the financial support from the Stampede Stop Shop.
