Grace Tomkins, center, was presented the 2019 Community Service Award from the General Jethro Sumner Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, by Helen Marshall, Community Service Chair, left, and Regent Nancy Gilley, right, at the December meeting. Tomkins’ volunteer, organizational, and fundraising skills have benefited Sumner County and northern Middle Tennessee for more than 30 years and inspired others to follow her example of service. She has helped to improve health services quality, higher education opportunities through Volunteer State Community College, and cultural development with the expansion of the Gallatin Public Library, as well as her dedication to historical preservation.
