Gilbert Peter Healy

Gilbert Peter Healy left us to join his family and friends in Heaven on January 18th, 2021.

He was surrounded by his wife, sons, and close friends and was able to continue the banter, mischief, and joy that framed his entire life. Peter, or Skipper, as he was known by his family and many friends will be remembered as a Man who always sought to bring a smile and comfort to all he touched. Born August 4, 1937, as a child of the end of the Great Depression, his early life in Alameda California, was shaped by the frugality, brought on by the concerns of those that are always left wanting for just a little more. He was the man that would regularly shock his very proper wife, and even his not so proper children, by such things as asking for a “to-go” bag at an all you can eat restaurant, saving every morsel of food long past its prime, and even the dreadful powdered milk for our morning cereal throughout our childhood. These often humorous missteps resulted in a life of dining faux pas that shocked his wife and humoured his children, but was in stark contrast to his main quest in life; bringing joy to others. From dressing up as the quintessential Santa Claus, to his counseling efforts in Marriage Enrichment Ministries at College Heights Baptist Church, to sharing his passion for all things nautical, Skipper was in his element when he was making a meaningful impact in other people’s lives. In doing so, his sincere happiness so clearly etched on his face, resonated with all and moved others to embrace his messages and seek to follow his guidance.

Peter is survived by his loving wife, Eunie, sons Mark, Tim and Darin, stepchildren Eunie and Bill, many grandchildren and as his extended family at the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville Tennessee. As a Father, he sought to convey confidence, strength, and spiritual growth . As a husband he pledged unconditional love, a genuine partnership, and a soul mate. As a Veteran of the US Air Force he was committed to its core value of Service Before Self. As an employee, public speaker, and educator, he was committed to all things related to food safety. And as a Christian, he was committed to serving as God moved him to make his time with us a better place for all.

Services will be held  this Friday, January 22 at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. Visitation will begin at 10:00 and services at 11:00.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
