Helen Bruce Digby, age 93 of Gallatin, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2018 in NHC Sumner.  

Funeral Service will be Friday, June 1 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home (100 Albert Gallatin Avenue), with Bro. Frankie Downs officiating.  

Visitation will be Friday, June 1 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Digby was born in Gallatin, to the late Julius T. Bruce and Ida Caldwell Bruce.  She had a 10 year career with Southern Bell that included a glamorous year reigning as Miss Southern Bell in 1950.  Helen embarked on a lifetime of adventure when she married George Digby, a Boston Red Sox Scout. Together they traveled the South over 40 years scouting new talent while Helen entertained their agents and families until retirement brought them back to her Tennessee roots.

Mrs. Digby is preceded in death by husband George in 2014; 2 brothers, Tommy and Eddie Bruce; sisters, Alberta Saunders, Louise Davis, Bessie Taylor, Ada Brobeck; Elizabeth Leskoff, and Dorothy Wilson.  She is survived by sister, Thelma Piper; her life-long friend, Virginia Ingram; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank NHC Sumner Memory Care Unit for all of their caring love and attention to Mrs. Digby.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caris Hospice of Springfield, 2308-A Memorial Blvd., Springfield, TN 37172.
