HENDERSONVILLE – On a warm homecoming evening the Beech Bucs took control early and rolled to a 67-0 win over region opponent Glencliff High School.
Glenclif won the toss and took the ball, but it was the only win they would have on the evening. Beech forced a three-and-out, and Ja’sean Parks took a handoff, and raced 36 yards for the first score on the Bucs second play from scrimmage.
After the first two series the second team went in on both sides of the ball for the Buccaneers. “It was good to get all the kids some significant playing time tonight. It was good experience for them and they did a good job with the opportunity,” said Beech coach Anthony Crabtree.
The route was on. Parks scored again five minutes later on a 41-yard run and he was done for the night. With 1:43 left in the first quarter Tysean Jefferson toted the rock 12 yards to pay-dirt for a 21-0 BHS lead.
With seven seconds left in the first quarter, Chris Townsend caught an 11 yard pass from backup QB Josh Jordan for a touchdown and a 28-0 lead.
Sophomore RB Patrick Hill added two second quarter touchdown runs and Corey Edwards knocked home a 29 yard field goal to go with a safety, and the Bucs lead at the half was 48-0 at the half.
“Patrick Hill ran real well for us tonight, it was good to get him some varsity experience,” said Crabtree.
Chris Townsed scored his second touchdown of the night as he returned the second half kick off 89 yards for the score. Caden Cutrell added a defensive score and sophomore QB Patrick Brown ran one in from 15-yards out to finish the scoring at 67-0 Beech.
Beech will travel to Hendersonville next week for a non region game at 7pm. “We were able to rest our starters tonight, so they should be ready to go next week. The game doesn’t mean anything in terms of region standings or playoffs but it’s a city pride thing. I hope we play better than we did last year,” said Crabtree.
