GALLATIN - Lady Bison senior standout Faith Eubank notched a double-double in her team’s 62-44 victory over visiting Kenwood Tuesday night.
Eubank poured in 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to help push her team to a 1-0 start to the 2019-2020 season.
“Offensively I was happy with my performance but I didn’t like how many turnovers I had,” Eubank said of her game. “I thought tonight was a good opening night win for us. We put in a lot of work this summer and so it was about coming out and doing the simple things that coach Cravens has taught us. I thought it went well.”
Along with Eubank, Marisa Wirtz poured in 13 and Taja Carter added 12, with most of her points coming off offensive rebounds.
“She is a great rebounder and we will need that from her this year,” Cravens said. “She is a post presence and brings a calmness to our team. She will be a great contributor for us.”
Leading 28-14 at the break, Station Camp added to their lead in the third quarter as Eubank and Wirtz combined for 15 points and the 50-27 lead.
For Kenwood, the momentum gained in the fourth quarter where the Lady Knights outscored the Bison 23-12, is what coach Charles Clark will hang his hat on.
“I thought the first half we were nervous,” he said. “At one point I looked on the floor and there were four freshmen out there. This was a huge environment for them and I thought they did great. I was very proud of their fight, particularly in the second half and fourth quarter.”
Another win for Clark was the 16 turnovers forced and the 22 paint points scored by his team.
“I love those stats,” he said. “Getting into the paint will allow us to get open shots because we do have good shooters. Defensively we need to continue to try and create turnovers and I thought tonight was our blueprint for the future.”
Reagan Foster led the Lady Knights with 12 points.
