HENDERSONVILLE – For the 10th consecutive season, the Hendersonville Lady Commando soccer program will play for the region championship.

Hendersonville will play Gallatin Thursday night after defeating Lebanon, 4-0, in Tuesday nights region semifinal round.

Following a rocky start to the 2020 season, many thought maybe this would be the year the streak was broken. However, a resilient attitude and outstanding leadership from the top down has put Hendersonville in place to win their second consecutive region title.

I was confident we would do well even though it was a tough road the first couple weeks,” Hendersonville head coach Devin Woodard said. It was a tough road to start, but we did that on purpose to prepare ourselves for this run.”

Against Lebanon, Hendersonville buried a flurry of first half goals – three – en route to their shutout victory.

Liza Sircy paced the team with two goals while Hannah Clark added one goal and one assist for the black shirts.

Bailey Rynor and Anabelle Procter also tallied an assist in the first half.

Hendersonville closed out the match with an Emily Arbuckle goal with two seconds remaining.

I thought we came out a little show tonight, but I like that we were able to get a lot of different girls quality minutes; that was the best thing from tonight,” Woodard said.

For Lebanon, 2020 marked the second consecutive season they reached the regional tournament. After a 9-0 mercy rule defeat last season, the 4-0 loss this year is seen as an improvement from head coach Jamie McFerrin.

To come back and compete in this game tells me the program is moving in the right direction,” she said. The seniors have set the bar, they have been leaders and we will miss them next year.”

McFerrin says goals of reaching the region tournament are now expectations.

The goal is always to get back to this game, but now its about wanting to do one better. We want to win the district so that we can host this game.”

Hendersonville will move on to the Region 5-AAA championship game to take on Gallatin for the third time this season.

The Lady Wave defeated Mt. Juliet 1-0 in Tuesday nights semifinal game.

We expect them to be physical and come out hard,” Woodard said. We will be ready but expect a good, physical match.”

Thursday nights game is set for 7 p.m. at the Field of Dreams.
