District 9AAA hoops at LHS --

LEBANON -- Following a see-saw first quarter, a sticky high pressure Lebanon defensive effort pushed the tempo up a notch as the Blue Devils overwhelmed Hendersonville 64-40 Friday at Campbell Brandon Gymnasium.

The Commandos trailed 12-11 after eight minutes, only to see LHS go on a 28-8 second period run to take a 36-19 lead into intermission.

"Lebanon does a great job defensively," said HHS head coach Clancey Hall. "They know we want to move the ball securely, be patient and make people guard us for 25-30 seconds. Their pressure makes us get away from that.

"Give them credit, they tipped passes, they read skip passes and stole those.

"I told our guys I thought we played well in our half-court defense. We challenged jump shooters, blocked out and rebounded, but Lebanon took the ball from us so much and got layups -- they deserved the win."

No Hendersonville player was able to score in double figures as Jordan Zuger led the way with eight points.

The Commandos shot just 3-of-9 at the free throw line.

Friday loss snapped a three-game winning streak as Hendersonville slipped to 5-3 overall, 1-1 in District 9AAA.

Junior Jamar Kynard came off the bench for 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils. Post man David Greene added 12 points.

Lebanon went 8-of-10 at the lne and knocked four four 3-pointers, moving to 7-1 on the season / 1-1 in the district.

HHS is scheduled to play in the Green Wave Christmas Classis Friday, Dec. 20 against Tullahoma and Saturday against Rockvale at Jerry Vradenburg Gymnasium.
