Midstate basketball round-up: Friendship Christian guard Max Duckwiler stuns Goodpasture on last-second shot

Friendship Christian senior guard Max Duckwiler accepted an inbounds pass and swiftly canned a 3-pointer at the buzzer, upsetting defending Division II-A state champion Goodpasture 46-43 on the road.

Goodpasture (11-3) travels to Clarksville Academy on Friday, while Friendship Christian (11-4) hosts Ezell-Harding.

Ensworth 73, MBA 44: Malik Dia led all scorers with 18 points, Nic Hyche added 16 and Devaki Garr (14) and Tony Gaines (10) each added double figures as the Tigers (12-2) won their fifth straight. Marcel Reed and Grayson Morgan each scored 11 for MBA.

Creek Wood 48, Harpeth 43: Jace Herrell scored 11 points and Jamison Ford added nine for the Red Hawks (4-4).

Ravenwood 47, Lebanon 35: DJ Starr scored 12 points to give the Raptors (9-4) their first win of the new year. Andrew Lamuno and Evan Gainer each added eight points. Yarin Alexander scored 14 points for Lebanon, who played minus standout Jarred Hall.

Brentwood 60, Nolensville 37: Daniel Cochran scored 18 points to lead three Bruins in double figures. Davis White scored 17 points and Jake Brock added 14.

Columbia Central 84, Oakland 76: Q Martin scored 33 points, going 13 of 14 from the foul line, as the Lions moved to 11-2.

Pope Prep 71, Lipscomb Academy 64: Josh Hixson scored 22 points for Pope Prep (11-4) and Fred Bailey added 14. Willie Walton (18 points) and Brandon Sweeney (12) led three players in double figures for the Mustangs (9-3).

Ezell-Harding 63, DCA 50: Cameron Hunt (20 points), Jack Ellis (17) and Blake Dean (14) helped the Eagles bounce back from a loss last week to Darlington (Georgia).

Centennial 71, Smyrna 39: Taner Lee dropped 28 points, hitting seven of Centennial’s 12 3-pointers. Dominic Reed scored 13 points and Devon Reed added 12 for the Cougars (8-4).

Columbia Academy 58, Franklin Road Academy 55: Griffin Cooper scored 18 points and Jeremy Jackson added 12 for Columbia Academy (11-4). Nemo Holmes led FRA with 20 points.

CPA 56, Father Ryan 43: Evan Shiflet scored 20 points to lead all scorers, as CPA (11-3) began region play with a victory.

Beech 67, Green Hill 56: Eli Rice scored 18 of his game-high 27 points in the first half for Beech (18-0) to keep the Buccaneers unbeaten. Andrew Page added 16 points. Jason Burch (18 points) and Paxton Davidson (17) led Green Hill (11-2).

Franklin 41, Summit 39: Noah Magee led Franklin (14-4) with 18 points. CJ Jones and Bradley Stewart each had 12 for Summit.

West Creek 51, Northwest 44: Kemari McIntosh led all scorers with 15 points and Sean Lafortune added as the Coyotes moved to 11-4. Tacarey Monday (12 points) and Servonte Williams (11) led Northwest.

Greenbrier 61, Sycamore 59: Bryson Merrill made two free throws in the final seconds to keep the Bobcats (13-1) afloat in one of their best starts in recent history.

Upperman 55, Macon County 51: Rex Davis erupted for 29 points, while AJ Nash (8 points) and Jyron McClellan (7) added support.

Davidson Academy 60, Nashville Christian 40: Lorenzo McMillion cashed in 19 points and Robert Breece added 13 for Davidson Academy. Donovan Smith scored 16 for Nashville Christian. 

Girls

Loretto 72, Wayne County 35: Alabama signee Karly Weathers scored 30 points, Ally Weathers put up 14 and Autumn Buttrum added eight to keep Loretto (14-0) unbeaten.

Nashville Christian 68, Davidson Academy 47: Kame Bishop led NCS with 16 points, hitting three of the Eagles’ eight 3-pointers. Ava Pomeroy scored 12 points and Riley O’Connor added 11. Davidson Academy’s Jolie Cote led all scorers with 23 points.

Lebanon 54, Ravenwood 47: Lebanon (14-3) pulled away for its fifth win in six games. Reghan Grimes scored 14 points and Elizabeth Flynn added nine for Ravenwood (8-7).

Page 67, Stewarts Creek 28: McKenzie Cochran scored 21 points, Abigail Ward totaled 14 and Braley Bushman added 13 as Page (14-1) continued its strong start.

Oakland 59, Columbia Central 47: Beth Nelson and Nikiah Chesterfield led Oakland with 18 points apiece. Josie Parks scored 19 for Columbia Central to lead all scorers.

DCA 33, Ezell-Harding 28: DCA’s Anaya Dawson led all scorers with 14 points. Adrionna added seven points and made two free throws in the final seconds to help seal the win for the Wildcats (7-6).

Webb School 63, MTCS 34: Webb School (11-6) rolled into the new year. Sydney Cooper scored 11 points and Autumn Davis added nine for MTCS.

Upperman 72, Macon County 40: Brooklyn Crouch led the Lady Bees (14-2) with 21 points and added three rebounds, four assists and three steals. Abigail Johnson added 14 points and nine rebounds. Jayla Cobb came just shy of a triple double, with 10 points, 11 assists and nine steals.

Franklin 49, Summit 42 (2OT): Wrenn Doran led the Admirals with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Lyla Gardner scored eight of her 11 points in overtime to help secure the win.

Brentwood 51, Nolensville 32: Sydney Ryan led the Bruins (10-5) with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Kaitlyn Lorenzi chipped in 10 points.

Providence Christian 49, Grace Christian 33: Sophomore Daisy Gale scored 20 points and Abby McFarland added 13 to lead PCA (5-6).

Northwest 71, West Creek 23: Ta’Mia Scott scored 20 points and Kayla Howell added 14 for the Lady Vikings. Amarachu Chukwuemeka scored seven points for West Creek.
