Noah Ring

Union High's Noah Ring, left, gets congratulated by his teammate AJ Davis after making a three-point basket.

GALLATIN - Tuesday night was a big night for senior Noah Ring, who paced the Union Red Devils with 20 points in their 62-47 victory over Hendersonville High School.

Ring splashed home four 3-pointers as well as added eight points at the rim in the win.

“Noah Ring really stepped up and shot the ball confidently for them,” Hendersonville head coach Clancy Hall said. “He made a lot of good decisions with the basketball. Give him a lot of credit.”

Union Head Coach Bobby Luna was also impressed with Ring’s play Tuesday night.

“Noah shot the ball well tonight,” Luna added. “He has worked hard to improve his game. His mindset has changed to want to attack the basket, he is getting offensive rebounds, and tonight he got some easy baskets.”

The offensive glass was kind to Union as the Red Devils secured 12 offensive rebounds and added 26 points in the paint.

“Our shot selection has improved greatly, and we are doing a better job of finishing around the rim,” Luna said of the win. “We feel much better after winning some games and playing well lately.”

The win over Hendersonville is the third district win in a row for the Red Devils.

“We were fortunate to be better on the offensive glass tonight as well as finishing around the rim,” Luna added.

Commandos’ head coach Clancy Hall agreed to say that is where the game was lost for Hendersonville.

“Turnovers and offensive rebounds have killed us this year and did again tonight,” he said. “It’s hard for us to win a game when those things happen.”

Leading 29-21 at the break, Union pushed their lead to as many as 12 points in the third quarter before entering the final frame up 40-29.

A 22-18 scoring advantage for the Red Devils in the fourth quarter, including a 9-for-10 performance at the free throw line, sealed the 15 point victory.
