An overnight domestic call turned violent, leading to one man being transferred to a local hospital after being shot by Hendersonville police.
At approximately 1:10 a.m. this morning, Hendersonville patrol officers responded to investigate an in-progress domestic violence incident on North Malayna Drive between a husband and wife.
Police identified the husband as James David Hochstetler, who was reportedly intoxicated and combative with officers.
While the reasons are still being investigated, the situation quickly escalated and at least one of the two responding officers fired his service weapon, striking Hochstetler. He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.
Neither officer was injured in the incident. Charges related to the domestic assault are pending against Hochstetler.
At the request of General Ray Whitley, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations (TBI) is conducting an ongoing investigation and has not released any more information at this time. The agency does not identify the law enforcement officers involved in incidents of this nature.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
